In this episode Jason reached out to Gabriel Shaffer. Gabriel is a visual artist, muralist, writer, curator, and Gallerists. Gabriel’s works rethinks rural Southern spiritualism in a realm of archetypal stories with an urban approach. He uses elements of comic book illustrations, graffiti, Native and Mesoamerican symbols through the lens of visionary/outsider art. With an accompaniment of creatures and characters, Gabriel uses these mythologies over drawings, assemblages, and paintings. Gabriel is also curator at Mortal Machine Gallery in New Orleans.
