In this episode Jason had the chance to talk to André Hemer. André Hemer is an artist out of New Zealand, who’s work surveys digital media and painting. His process is uses digital scanning, photos and physical paint to produce printed canvas as an under-layer with paint is applied and sculpted on top. Since its founding in 2010, the festival has expanded from its origins in Hawaii and grown into a global network of artists. Secret Walls, brought back to DC for 2022, brings artists together to paint a mural before a live audience within 90 minutes. It’s raw, fast and fun! Gabriel Shaffer’s Work

In this episode Jason reached out to Gabriel Shaffer. Gabriel is a visual artist, muralist, writer, curator, and Gallerists. Gabriel’s works rethinks rural Southern spiritualism in a realm of archetypal stories with an urban approach.  He uses elements of comic book illustrations, graffiti, Native and Mesoamerican symbols through the lens of visionary/outsider art. With an accompaniment of creatures and characters, Gabriel uses these mythologies over drawings, assemblages, and paintings. Gabriel is also curator at Mortal Machine Gallery in New Orleans. They talk about his exposer to outsider art, his personal mythology, What makes American Folk Art one of the purest forms of American Art, the origins of Mortal Machine Gallery and his advice to other Artist.
