In this episode Jason went to Miami, Florida to cover the many art fairs that happen in the first week of December. Twenty-six fairs in total and he just went to only a quarter of them. It’s a challenge to cover one art fair but to cover many is the true challenge that can change a person. Jason’s first stop was Scope Art Fair which by the way is coming up in March of 2020. (the 5th thru the 8th) where he went Tim Conlon. Tim does photorealistic works of freight train graffiti. After that he was off to Pulse Art Fair where Jason met Julie Brookman. Julie does encaustic painting of seascapes. And they look like photos that were taken with a drone. Art fair fatigue is a thing! It’s real you got to pace yourself! The fairs know this and have different ways of working with it Pulse had the aromatic smells Untitled Art Fair had a space for one to mediate and relax. Untitled was nice, lots of great work I got to meet Catharine from Catharine Clark Gallery and we about Stephanie Syjuco work that was there in the both.
The next day Jason was off to Wynwood the first stop was CADAF. CADAF dedicates itself to digital and new media art. So Jason sat down with Andrea Steuer the fair’s director and Fanny Lakoubay the Public relations and curator for CADAF. If you went to learn more about CADAF you can go to the website at CADAF.art. Their instagram page is CADAF_art and before leaving CADAF Jason met Carlos Luna James. Carlos’ work is an audio visual 3D. This is an cosmic experience to be on the out look for. Jason then made his way to the Wynwood walls along the way he saw a lot of street art. The walls were great and lots of people where there and the walls had some good hard hitting themes. Jason then started off to Art Miami its about 2 miles from the walls and he saw more street art along the way. Once Jason got to Art Miami I enjoyed seeing blue chip artist and meeting new people. The last fair that Jason went to was Art Basel Miami. He saw Theaster Gates video Dance of Malaga and Isaac Julien’s Lina Bo Bardi video as well. And yes Jason did see the Comedian, the banana duct tape to the wall, and had his picture taken with it. So with that, it was an adventure and a challenge. A huge thank you to everyone how had the interviews and a huge thank you to the fairs for allowing Jason to cover them.
